For Derby® bananas, a carefully controlled ripening process is the key to perfection. In line with our commitment to sustainability, we have modernized our operations with our own, localized production of maturation gas.
This innovative approach allows us to utilize advanced technology to ensure the natural firmness and vibrant color of the fruit in a cooler, energy-efficient manner. By optimizing logistics and controlling our own resources, we significantly reduce our environmental footprint while delivering fruit to your shelves that has ripened safely, efficiently, and with the utmost respect for nature. It is another step in our journey toward operational excellence and a greener future.
Heat pump
We are actively pursuing our vision of transitioning to low-carbon energy sources. As early as 2019, we took a decisive step by integrating a high-efficiency heat pump for the climate control of our premises.
By transitioning to this system, we have replaced fossil fuels with renewable energy sources, allowing us to precisely manage the energy intensity of our operations. This investment reflects not only our drive to reduce direct greenhouse gas emissions but also our commitment to creating a long-term, sustainable energy architecture. LED lighting
The future is bright and sustainable! In January 2025, we equipped our logistics and storage facilities with high-efficiency LED lighting.
